At Old Boot, character runs through everything from the start — the designs we choose, the materials we select, and the way each piece is made by hand.

Inspired by the originals

Many of our designs began life long before Old Boot did.

Many of our designs began life long before Old Boot did. Over the years we've searched flea markets, antique shops, auctions and the forgotten corners of the country, looking for beautifully made sofas and chairs with something special about them. Some were hidden beneath worn fabric; others needed rebuilding entirely — but underneath, we'd often find a timeless design that deserved a second life. Those discoveries still shape much of what we make today.

Character starts with the materials

A sofa is only ever as good as the materials it's made from.

We choose our leathers and fabrics not just for durability and comfort, but for personality — leathers with natural markings and individuality, fabrics with texture, depth and warmth. Materials that feel inviting from the first day and only gain character as they settle into your home.

Handmade, one piece at a time

Every Old Boot sofa is made to order in our Lancashire workshop by skilled craftspeople.

From selecting the hides and cutting the patterns through to hand-buttoning, upholstery and final finishing, every stage is done by hand with care — no production lines, no mass manufacturing. Just experienced people making furniture they're proud to put their name to.

The details are often the last thing you notice — and the thing that makes the biggest difference over the years.

Hand-tacked studs. Traditional deep buttoning. Carefully tailored upholstery. Hardwood frames built the traditional way. And hand-turned hardwood feet, made for us in Wales. The finishing touches that give every Old Boot piece its own personality.
