Delivery and installation
Handmade furniture delivered with care.
Our delivery service at a glance
Once your Old Boot sofa or chair is ready, we'll guide you through the final stages and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
We work with trusted furniture delivery specialists who provide a fully managed delivery and installation service — experienced two-person teams who understand the care that handcrafted furniture deserves. They'll:
- Deliver to the room of your choice
- Assemble the furniture where required, and attach the feet
- Remove all the packaging for recycling
- Give you time to inspect everything properly before they leave
You'll hear from us throughout, including delivery updates and a delivery window on the day itself.

Frequently asked questions
Is delivery charged per item or per order?
Is delivery charged per item or per order?
Per delivery. Whether you're having one sofa or a sofa, an armchair and a footstool, everything on your order arrives together for a single charge — £49 or £99 depending on your postcode. That's how it's calculated at checkout, however many pieces you order.
Because everything is handmade to order, pieces on the same order sometimes finish at different times. We'll hold the earlier ones and bring everything in one delivery, so you only pay once.
If you'd rather have part of your order sooner we can arrange it, however a second delivery does mean a second delivery charge.
Will my sofa fit through narrow doorways or upstairs?
Will my sofa fit through narrow doorways or upstairs?
Most of our designs go through a standard UK doorway, which is usually 72–75cm wide.
Where they don't, we've usually got a way round it:
- Detachable feet come as standard on every design except the Nutshell — and we can make a Nutshell with removable feet for a small extra cost.
- Detachable arms come as standard on the Battersea, Whitechapel, Hutch, Spitalfield, Urbanite, Dixie and Bessie. If you need them on a different design, tell us and we'll talk through the options.
Before you order, have a measure of the doorways, hallways, stairs and any tight corners between the front door and where it's going. If anything looks marginal, send us photos and measurements — we'll go through them with you and tell you honestly whether it'll work. We'd much rather spend ten minutes on that than turn up and not get it in.
What size delivery van do you use?
What size delivery van do you use?
Deliveries are made in a 3.5-tonne long-wheelbase Luton — roughly the size of a large transit box van. It's big enough to carry larger pieces safely and small enough to get down most residential streets.
It does mean there's a practical limit to how much fits in one run. For most orders that's never an issue, but if you're furnishing a whole house or ordering several large pieces, give us a ring before you order and we'll work out the best way to get everything to you.
If your road is narrow, has a weight limit, or parking is difficult, let us know when you order and we'll help to plan around it.
Can I collect my furniture when it’s ready?
Can I collect my furniture when it’s ready?
Yes. If you'd rather collect, you can do so free of charge from our logistics partner in Leeds — just tell us when you order and we'll make the arrangements.
Two things worth knowing before you decide. You'll be doing the lifting and the assembly yourself, so you'll need a vehicle big enough for the piece and a hand at the other end.
And if you change your mind, you've still got the same 28 days — you'd just need to bring it back to Leeds yourself, in the condition it left in. No collection charge, since there's no collection to make.
How long does it take to make and deliver?
How long does it take to make and deliver?
Every piece is handmade to order, so the lead time varies by design and by how busy the workshop is. The current estimate is shown on each product page and in your basket, and it's confirmed again on your order acknowledgement.
That estimate covers the whole journey — making and delivering — so it's the time from placing your order to sitting on it at home, not just the time in the workshop.
We cover the whole of the UK on a two-week delivery cycle. Once your piece is finished, we'll be in touch within a week to arrange a delivery date that suits you.
Occasionally a supplier delay on a particular fabric or leather pushes things back. If that happens we'll tell you as soon as we know and talk through the options — an alternative material, or a full refund if you'd rather not wait.
Can I get my order faster?
Can I get my order faster?
Sometimes. If you're working to a deadline — a house move, for example — tell us when you order and we'll see what we can do. We won't promise anything we can't deliver, but it's always worth asking.
Can you take away my old furniture?
Can you take away my old furniture?
Yes—we offer a furniture removal service for a fixed fee:
- £165 for standard delivery zone
- £250 for extended delivery zone
We’ll remove your old furniture when we deliver your new Old Boot piece. Where possible, we’ll donate reusable items to charity. If not, they’ll be responsibly recycled.
Important: The removal service must be arranged when booking your delivery and is limited to a similar number of seats as we’re delivering (due to van capacity).
