The best way to know an Old Boot sofa is to sit on one. Our showroom in Matlock sits in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, home to one of the largest collections of handcrafted sofas and chairs in the region — room to see, feel and compare at your own pace.
Our showroom occupies a former fire station, built in 1938. With its striking brickwork, steel-framed windows and arched rooflights, it felt like the right home for Old Boot the moment we found it — a building with the same character and craftsmanship that goes into the furniture itself.
Inside, you'll find a wide selection of our designs on display, so you can see the quality, judge the proportions and try the comfort for yourself. Many of our most popular sofas, chairs and footstools are here in a range of sizes, fabrics and leathers. If there's a particular model you're hoping to see, get in touch before you travel and we'll let you know what's on display that day.
The atmosphere is relaxed and there's no pressure to decide. Many customers stay for an hour or more, and some visit several times before choosing — which is exactly as it should be. Good furniture is worth taking your time over.
What to expect when you visit
No pressure, no hard sell, and nobody working on commission. Our team is here to answer questions, talk through the options and help you find the right thing — at your pace, not ours. There's usually a pot of something warm on the go, and dogs are always welcome (we keep water and treats ready).

Worth the trip
Lovely designs, great variety, good British production principles. Showroom in Matlock is well set up for wandering, trying out, discussing things - without being pestered by staff. Staff are all well informed, enthusiastic and will provide as much help as you need - without any pressure
After finding Old Boot online, I was pleased to find that the showroom was close enough for my to visit. The staff were very helpful, offering free samples of the fabric I was I interested in.
The only thing we can say about Old Boot Sofas is FABULOUS.
From start to finish everything has been brilliant. We went to the show room in Matlock from Bewdley it was so worth the drive out. The ladies were all great nothing was to much trouble and so much choice in fabrics & leather.
